Burlesque at Big Dance, Edinburgh

BurlyAir takes-off at the Big Dance, Edinburgh, 1 July 2012

The Burlesque Improvers class at Dance Base Edinburgh wowed the enthusiastic but somewhat wet crowds at the Big Dance 2012 event in the Grassmarket yesterday.  Scotland’s longest-running weekly burlesque class (coming up for eight years!) did us proud as they braved the elements to deliver a typically tongue-in-cheek performance parodying the antics of some frisky ‘Pan Am’ stewardesses.

In the traditionally British ‘Carry On’ style of burlesque, the Edinburgh burlesque class (featuring Captain Impressive Johnson and his crew) took the Grassmarket to Sin City on Flight 6969.  Starting with a BurlyAir welcome on board through a full mile-high service to a bumpy, yet successful, landing.  Within the group were stage veterans as well as debut performers who had never taken to the stage before.  We are so very pleased for them all as they took to performing like seasoned professionals.  The star of the show (and by far our youngest performer ever) was ‘Burlesque Bump’ (see video below), who stole the show!

Take a look at our Youtube clip of the burlesque Edinburgh show here! Buckle up and prepare yourselves for a bump’n’grindy flight on BurlyAir!
