It was my hen party on Saturday and myself and 8 of my friends took part in the burlesque hen party in Glasgow. We all just wanted to let you know that we had such a fantastic time. We were quite nervous before we started but our teacher Miss April Husk was brilliant! She put everyone at ease and we had such a laugh choosing our burlesque names – that was just the start of a brilliant night. We all loved prancing, posing and strutting. I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you for our burlesque hen party in Exeter. Miss Blue Belle was fantastic and it was fascinating to hear about her stories as a burlesque dancer. She was a great laugh, felt like one of the group, and the party was an overwhelming success! Even the unsure members of the group who almost pulled out of the weekend because of our activity choice, couldn’t stop laughing!! They didn’t at any point during the party feel self conscious and everyone did the little performance at the end of the lesson. I can’t tell you how much they laughed!!

I wanted to write a quick note of thanks for the fantastic whistle-stop tour of burlesque on Saturday afternoon – it was SUCH a lot of fun, and everyone had a great time! I just wanted to say thank you so much for such a fabulous afternoon in Norfolk. Some of the girls were a bit nervous when I first started talking about burlesque and especially when I suggested corsets. Nevertheless, they all absolutely loved it and in fact have said that the whole experience was one of the best things they have ever done!
Re the 80s – well what can I say?? I did tell you that we were a bunch of old birds and this session massively hit the spot with everyone – particularly the Flashdance routine!! We managed to capture our final attempt on video and the concentration on everyone’s face is absolutely hilarious!! I think we were all really feeling that it was in fact the most important moment of our lives!! There is talk of putting on the routine at the wedding itself, which I suspect will be less funny without our wigs and tutus but I imagine it may well happen after a few beers!! You did a fantastic job of keeping control of such a rowdy bunch and thank you for staying for a bit longer. Since starting Beginners Burlesque with Academy of Burlesque & Cabaret, my confidence has improved and the poses and walks I’ve learnt have given me better poise. I love Academy of Burlesque and Cabaret classes for many, many reasons. No matter how bad your day, week or year, when you go to a class you have such fun that for that short period of time you totally switch off and forget your troubles/problems. The exotic and glamorous world of burlesque allows you to indulge your inner diva and dress to impress, and the more sparkly bits and feathers the better!! I also know that many women who attend the classes do so because it improves their self confidence and allows them to re-discover their own sensuality, which is often lost among piles of dirty washing and hoovering, whilst learning how to laugh at themselves. A friend and I have just finished the Beginners course in burlesque with Viva and we wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed it. We really did not know what to expect and were a little scared at the prospect of baring any flesh!
